11.12.18 A couple if important things to report this week.
First, Kelly Jordan is organizing the PTA theme basket fundraiser this year. She sent out the following note:
Welcome to this year's Theme Basket sign up! This is a fundraiser put on by the New Boston Central School PTA that is a FUN tradition for all who participate AND it gives back to the school!
How it works: you will select the teacher's class you're volunteering to organize on behalf of. You will select a THEME for your basket. You will then send out your OWN signup genius to other parents in your class to allow them to make contributions to the aforementioned basket. The sooner you determine your theme, the better off you'll be! No duplicates so if another class has chosen the same theme prior to your selection, you'll have to get creative.
You may chose how to collect the items. It might make sense to work with your teacher on a suitable plan for collection. The basket AND all of the items included with your theme are due to New Boston Central School the week of January 14th, and no later than January 17th.
We will host a "wrapping" party and if you'd like to join, please contact Kelly Jordan email@example.com.
The baskets will line the halls of the school the week of January 21st. This is also the week raffle tickets to win the baskets will go on sale. Each ticket is $1.00. A flash sale will take place on Friday, January18th for the duration of the school day where tickets will be priced in lumps of 25 for $20.
The WINNERS names will be called during the Annual New Boston Recreation Lip Sync Challenge on Saturday, January 26th held in the NBCS gym. Check the Bobcat News for a time as we get closer to this date.
This is a LOT of fun for the kids! As always, we appreciate your support!
For any questions, please contact Kelly Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I didn’t read very carefully, so I signed up for a “Super Bowl Party” Basket. I hope that works for you. Is there someone who is willing to put together a sign-up genius to give people ideas and to make sure we don’t have too many repeats? You may also want to add a basket (to hold all of the donations) to the list. I would be willing to store donations in my classroom until the “wrapping party”.
Secondly, I have not told your children yet, but the UNH Stembassadors are coming on Friday! They are a group of engineering students from UNH who work with our students to conduct an engineering project. Our students always enjoy working with college students. They not only talk about the project, but they talk to them about college and engineering in general.
We have been working on comparing fractions. Your students are very good at understanding fractions that equivalent to 0, to 1 whole, and ½. We have started to compare fractions that are 1 fractional part away from 1 whole (3/4, 4/5, 7/8). Many of your students had a hard time seeing that 7/8 is the largest fraction because 1/8 is the smallest amount left. Any help you can give your child will be great. If you are not sure what this means and would like to help your child, don’t hesitate to send an email with a good time for me to call. We will be working more in class with that this week.
Last but not least, someone left a pair of brown gloves in our classroom at the Halloween party. Yes, it took me this long to realize they were adult gloves. Please let me know if they belong to you.
