11.3.19 In science this week, we will be wrapping our unit about how our Earth changes. I will be putting some pictures of the experiments we did, please be sure to take a look and ask your child about them. In social studies we are starting our history unit and comparing how things, such as how we communicate, travel, and do our work, used to be done with how they are done today. In math we are starting to look at strategies to help us subtract. Some of these strategies include, thinking of addition, counting up and back, and knowing 1 and 10 less. Please ask your child each day about which strategy we talked and what does it mean. This week we are reading non-fiction pieces about animal habitats in which authors organize their writing into main ideas and details. Last but not least, in writing we are going to finish our first big writing piece, a personal narrative. Next week, I will be asking students to write another personal narrative independently.
Don’t forget, our walking field trip is on Friday. Please be sure to dress your child for the weather. Those who volunteered to chaperone: I will be in touch with you by Wednesday.
