10.6.19 We had quite an exciting week last week. I hope your child told you about the cardboard challenge, when he/she had the opportunity to build with cardboard. It is inspired by a boy who built a whole arcade using just cardboard. Here is the link to the video we watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul9c-4dX4Hk
It is really quite inspirational. We also did our first science experiment. Check out the pictures on the web page!
We spent some time working with our reading buddies writing about the process of learning! I will be putting up a bulletin board to show off some of this work. When I get the bulletin board up, I will post a picture.
This week we will be continuing our study of slow earth changes and how water makes those changes. In Math we are moving on to unit 2, during which we will be studying addition, including ways to do it and purposes of adding.
This week and next we are wrapping up our reading Unit during which we have been looking at how family and friends learn, grow and help one another. We will be working on a personal narrative in which your child will write about how his/her family learns, grows and helps each other.
Our growth mindset focus this month is: “Our brain is like a muscle that grows”, we will be exploring how our brain learns.
Just a clarification: I have in fact set aside time each do for 3 or 4 students to share special things from home (show and share). They may sign up once every 2 weeks.
